| Is That Allowed? Code Enforcement Question of the Week... |
 |
Q - Are compost piles allowed?
A - Yes, composting is allowed within the City of Wildwood. Composting is a great method of recycling yard waste and some food waste, but it is very important that residents who elect to have such an activity on their property follow certain guidelines, so as not to create a nuisance. The City requires the accumulation of yard waste be contained within a well-ventilated corral/bin; the compost must be maintained by the resident by turning the material and properly creating the decomposed waste for use. Failure to follow the guidelines will result in a nuisance, which is a violation of the City's Codes and staff will ask the compost be properly maintained or removed. Below is a link to St. Louis County Web Site that shares methods on how to create a proper compost pile and how to manage it.
