Meramec River Flooding

MERAMEC RIVER EXPECTED TO CREST SUNDAY MORNING

The Meramec River at Eureka is now at 15 feet (9:30 am, Friday, April 11), but will begin to sharply rise to a crest of approximately 26.5 feet by Sunday morning, April 13, which is 10.5 feet above flood stage (16 feet).  By Monday morning, it should begin to drop and recede below flood stage on Tuesday morning.  At this level, no road closures or sandbagging operations are anticipated, and no impact to homes are expected.  The estimated crest Sunday morning is approximately 13 feet below the crest that occurred in March.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway.  The water depth may be too great to allow your vehicle to cross safely.

More updates will follow as the forecast changes.  Visit the National Weather Service link below for updates to the river level:

This Week's Q & A...Police Facilities
Information from Department of Administration

Q.  Several residents have asked what is going on as far as finding a new location for our police as they now have to be out of their current location on 12/31/08.  Some think that if the city can't find a new location for the police they think the police for Wildwood will be based at the St. Louis County Headquarters in Clayton after 12/31/08.

What  is going on and when do the City and the Police expect to announce where the police for Wildwood will be based after 12/31/08?

A.  County Police and City Officials are actively engaged in discussions with building owners here in Wildwood for a new Wildwood Police Precinct facility and hope to arrive at a decision soon.  The City's Police Services Agreement with St. Louis County requires that the County Police maintain a precinct facility within Wildwood to service our contract.
Is That Allowed...Code Enforcement Question of the Week...

Q - Why do I need to submit plans to the City of Wildwood and St. Louis County for a permit?

A - The City of Wildwood contracts with St. Louis County for assistance in reviewing plans for Building Code compliance and to perform routine inspections during the course of construction to assure compliance.  The City of Wildwood is the first stop in obtaining a building permit. Applicants for building permits must provide plans to the City of Wildwood, so its staff can review them to assure the proposed project is in compliance with the City's Codes, both Zoning and Municipal.  After Wildwood staff has had the opportunity to review and approve the proposed project, the plans are stamped with its approval.  Once that process is completed, the applicant can take the City-approved plans to St. Louis County for review and then obtain a building permit.  St. Louis County will not issue a building permit for a project within the City of Wildwood without its approval.

Did You Know?
The City has a section on its website outlining the Zoning Authorization & Building Permit process.  Visit the link below for more information:
