Is That Allowed? Code Question of the Week...

Q - Can I save some money and burn my own yard waste and trash?

A - No.  The burning, ignition, setting afire, or maintenance of the burning of garbage, refuse, waste, trash, straw, paper, weeds, leaves, grass clippings or other combustible materials or other substances of any nature or description within the City is a violation of City Ordinance 215.050 (6).  Please see the link to the Municipal Code below for further details.
This Week's Q&A...Oh Deer!

Q. Most times when a deer is hit by a car, the remains are removed by someone within a day.  However, as with so many rural roads in Wildwood...I sometimes see deer on the side of the road for days.  So my question is if we see a deceased deer on the side of the road, what number do we call it in and who takes ownership of seeing that the remains are picked up and disposed of?  I don't think tying up a 911 operator is the best choice unless the situation warrants it at the time.

A.  You would call the entity responsible for the maintenance of the roadway.  If it is on a state-maintained highway (State Route 100, 109, BA, CC, or T) you would call MoDOT (314-340-4100). If it is on a County-maintained road (Old State Road, Clayton Road, Ruck Road, or Eatherton Road) you would contact the St. Louis County Department of Highways and Traffic at 314-615-8549. If it is on any other public streets or the City trail system, just call City Hall at 636-458-0440.  If you are unsure who maintains the roadway, just call City Hall and we will assist with arranging for the deer to be removed.

Have You Ever Wondered? So Ask!
Is there a question about Wildwood that you've wanted to ask, but haven't bothered with calling City Hall?  If you're wondering, someone else probably is too.  So, now's the chance to pose the question and get the answer.  The weekly e-newsletter, now provides the opportunity to submit your questions.  They will be answered by the appropriate staff person and posted in future e-newsletters.

Submit your questions via email to Kathy Arnett. The answers will then be posted in future e-newsletters.
