| Is That Allowed? Code Enforcement Question of the Week... |
 |
Q: How many pets can a resident have?
A: As required by the City's Zoning Ordinance, the maximum number of allowable pets (dogs and cats combined) is five (5), but no more than three (3) dogs. Property owners exceeding these limits are considered to be operating a "kennel." The City of Wildwood defines a "Kennel" as:
'The use of land or buildings for the purpose of selling, breeding, boarding or training dogs or cats or both or the keeping of four (4) or more dogs over four (4) months of age or the keeping of six (6) or more cats over four (4) months of age or the keeping of more than five (5) dogs and cats%u2026.."
If a resident wishes to own more than the allowable number of animals, a Conditional Use Permit to operate a kennel would have to be requested from the City's Planning and Zoning Commission.
If you have any questions regarding the allowed number of dogs and cats at a resident's property, please contact the Department of Planning - Code Enforcement. |

| This Week's Q & A...Why Do I have to Submit 5 Sets of Plans? |
 |
Q. If Wildwood doesn't have it' own building inspector, why must a building permit applicant submit 5 sets of plans to Wildwood at the beginning of the permit process?
A. The City reviews building plans for compliance with its municipal codes, prior to St. Louis County reviewing the building for compliance to the International Building Code. The City only keeps 1 copy of the plans for its records. The resident/contractor then takes 4 copies to St. Louis County, with the City's stamp of approval, authorized signature, and Municipal Zoning Authorization form. St. Louis County requires 4 sets of plans to be distributed amongst their plan reviewers and inspectors. By having the plans come to Wildwood first, it provides the City the opportunity to stamp its authorization so County officials know they are using the same set of plans we have reviewed and approved and that those plans are in compliance with both City and County regulations.
