General R. Jon Bopp Appointed to Vacant Ward 6 Council Seat

Wildwood, Mo. – At the August 13, 2018 City Council Meeting, the appointment of General R. Jon Bopp was approved to fill a vacant Ward 6 Council Seat until the next general municipal election on April 2, 2019.  He takes over for Greg Alexander, who resigned at the end of May.

General Bopp has considerable civic, professional and military experience, including his most recent Wildwood position as a Planning and Zoning Commissioner.  He was also a former Mayor of Ballwin for three terms, as well as serving in many other municipal positions.  He admirably served his country with the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii and the 27th Infantry Division in Vietnam.  Among his nearly 20 decorations and badges, he received the Meritorious Service Medal with Three Oak Leaf Clusters and the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star. He is a Brigadier General in the United States Army.

"Appointing General Jon Bopp to our Council for Ward 6 was one my greatest honors. His lengthy record of public service will allow him to continue to make significant contributions for Wildwood and its residents," said Mayor Jim Bowlin of the appointment.
