Now Hiring - City Administrator

The City of Wildwood, Missouri is seeking candidates for the full-time position of City Administrator. This position serves as the Chief Administrative Officer for the City. The City Administrator oversees the administrative, financial, and operational functions for this City of 35,417 residents through the direct supervision of a Director of Planning and Parks, a Director of Public Works, Finance Officer, and Economic Development/Communications Manager. The City operates with a staff of 27.5 employees. The City Administrator works under the direction of the Mayor and serves a City Council of sixteen elected officials.

Primary responsibilities include:

1. Development and accountability of the City’s Operating and Capital Improvement Budgets ($11.6 and $18.4 respectively);

2. Leadership of staff in the execution of ordinances and programs authorized by City Council; and

3. Liaison for the City to municipal, county, and state governmental bodies.

Leadership, motivation of staff, project planning, and critical thinking are key strengths to the success of this position. Contract negotiation for services is a critical function, as the City contracts for most municipal services (i.e. police, waste hauling, maintenance and construction, etc.)

A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field is required; a Master’s Degree is highly desired. The successful candidate will possess extensive managerial experience in Project Management, Finance, and Operations. Direct experience in City Management is preferred, however, other equivalent experience may be considered. Pursuant to the City’s Municipal Code, the City Administrator need not be a resident of the City at the time of appointment but must reside in the City within six months of appointment, unless an extension is granted by the City Council.

The salary range for this position is $151,748 - $235,210 and will be dependent upon experience/skill set. The City also offers an excellent employer-paid benefits package.
