DEA NATIONAL RX TAKE BACK - WILDWOOD CITY HALLThe City of Wildwood and the St. Louis County Police Department - Wildwood Precinct will be participating in the DEA sponsored Rx Take Back Event on Saturday, October 24, 2020 to collect unwanted medications. The drop-off location is Wildwood City Hall, which is located at 16860 Main Street. You can bring your unwanted or expired medications and prescriptions to City Hall between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Scouts and the St. Louis County Police will be here to help you. Thank you for participating, and being responsible in the disposal of these items. |

Election Information - April 6, 2021 Election
Filing OPENS on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at 8:00 a.m.
The City Clerk shall receive all candidates, during regular office hours, in the order in which they pass through the front door of City Hall (Main Street Entry), until filing closes.
Filing CLOSES on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 5:00 p.m.
No candidate's name shall be printed on any official ballot unless the candidate has filed a written Declaration of Candidacy and paid a ten dollar ($10.00) filing fee to the City Clerk or his/her designee. Payment of the filing fee may be by cash or check made payable to: the City of Wildwood, Missouri.
Do you want to be a City Council Member in the City of Wildwood (2-Year Term)? You must meet the following Qualifications for a Council Member:
* A registered voter; and
* A resident of the Ward for one (1) year prior to election and during the term of office.
Nominating Petitions:
Candidates for Council Member must submit completed Nominating Petitions on forms provided by the City Clerk. Nominating Petitions for Council Member candidates shall be signed by not less than twenty-five (25) registered voters who are residents of the ward in which the candidate is nominated. Completed Nominating Petitions must be submitted at the time of filing of a Declaration of Candidacy.
Petition signatures shall be valid only if obtained not earlier than forty-five (45) days prior to the first day of filing. Therefore, Any Signatures Obtained Prior to Saturday, October 31, 2020, Are Invalid. No person shall be allowed to be nominated for more than one (1) office at a time.

The cookbook will be offered digitally, for free, at the end of the year. It’s as easy as completing a short form and uploading a photo of the recipe. COVID-19 Operational Procedures and InformationCounty Executive's Office via St. Louis County Department of Health - (St. Louis County) - St. Louis County Executive Sam Page announced this past week that businesses will be allowed to increase their capacity restrictions from 25% back to 50% of the authorized fire or building code occupancy, effective Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. This new Public Health Order also allows high-contact youth sports to resume operation, and recommends in-person learning for high school students.More details are available by clicking on this link: Signed Copy of this New County Order.

MASKS AND THEIR ROLE IN BEATING BACK COVID-19Masks are recommended as a simple barrier to help prevent respiratory droplets from traveling into the air and onto other people, when the person wearing the mask coughs, sneezes, talks, or raises their voice. This barrier created by a mask is called source control. This recommendation is based on what the medical community knows about the role respiratory droplets play in the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19, paired with emerging evidence from clinical and laboratory studies that shows masks reduce the spray of droplets, when worn over the nose and mouth. COVID-19 spreads mainly among people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet), so the use of masks is particularly important in settings, where people are close to each other, or where social distancing is difficult to maintain.- CDC recommends that people wear masks in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
- Masks may help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others.
- Masks are most likely to reduce the spread of COVID-19, when they are widely used by people in public settings.
- Masks should NOT be worn by children under the age of 2 or anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.

Closures of Streets, as of October 23, 2020All Streets in the Glencoe Area (around Glencoe City Park and Al Foster Memorial Trailhead and Trail) remain posted "No Parking." This restriction includes Washington Avenue, Grand Avenue, and 3rd Street.
Status of Park Facilities, as of October 23, 2020 The City’s Community Park playground, which is located at 2153 Highway 109, reopened for use on October 2, 2020. The City's three (3) other playgrounds (Anniversary Park, Old Pond School Park, and Glencoe City Park) are now also open for use. Please follow the rules posted at each of these playgrounds, so we all can have fun and see friends again, but stay safe and healthy. |

Large Pavilion Area and North Parking Lot Picnic Area
within Community Park Now OpenThe large pavilion in Community Park is open and can be reserved, while the new Phase 3 Area of Community Park is available as well. Social distancing is required. The gathering size is limited to no more than fifty (50) individuals within the large pavilion area and thirty (30) individuals in association with the two (2), smaller pavilion areas located within the new Phase 3 portion of the park. Face masks are required. Please practice these public health requirements, so everyone stays safe and healthy! |

Pavilion Rentals Now Being Accepted on a Limited Basis
Anniversary, Community, and Old Pond School ParksThe Anniversary Park's Pavilion, Community Park's Large Pavillion, Old Pond School Park's Pavilion, and the pavilions on the north end of Community Park, are all now open. The Community Park's largest pavilion on the south end of the park reopened on July 6, 2020. Portable restrooms and wash stations are provided at all of these locations.
Please adhere to the following guidelines when using the pavilion:
- Social distancing is required by maintaining at least six (6) feet between yourself and other non-household members. If you notice this rule is not being followed, please call the St. Louis County Police – Wildwood Precinct - 636-458-9194.
- Avoid gathering with people you do not live with.
- Do not enter the facility if you are ill.
- Wearing face coverings is required, as of Friday, July 3, 2020.
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow.
- Washing hands or using hand sanitizer before entering the pavilion and after leaving is encouraged.
Please note: If you notice that other facility users exhibit symptoms of COVID-19, or you believe you have been exposed, please go home immediately and call the St. Louis County Public Health COVID-19 Hotline, at 314-615-2660, or contact your physician. The size of gatherings in association with these facilities is limited to no more than thirty (30) individuals for smaller venues, while fifty (50) people for the larger shelter in Community Park, under the revised public health orders that have been issued by St. Louis County. RALLY FOR RETAIL IN WILDWOODIn partnership with its local businesses, the City has launched a “Rally for Retail” Campaign to help support Wildwood retailers during the current environment.
Pure By Jen, a local Wildwood boutique, recommended this new effort in order to encourage community members to virtually “shop” at their favorite local brick-and-mortar stores by purchasing GIFT CARDS. Purchasing these online gift cards now will help to keep as many Wildwood retailers as possible in business, so that they can reopen their doors, when this crisis passes.

This newly revised Application will make it easier for small businesses to apply for PPP funds and receive forgiveness for loans received. $100 Billion remains available in PPP funds.+++ The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) has developed a new, free, automated forgiveness tool for small business owners who have received funds from the SBA Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). This tool will automatically fill out the forgiveness application and produce all government-required forms, thereby saving hours of manual work for any applicant going through the PPP loan forgiveness process. This waiver allows Wildwood restaurants, pubs and coffee shops to expand outdoor seating and hold special events, and provides necessary guidelines and procedures for doing such. Several Wildwood restaurants have taken advantage of this Waiver since May 2020, including Wildwood Pub & Grill, Benedetto’s on Main, Larry’s Tavern, Parkside Grille and Casey’s Bar. +++ Pursuant to Resolution #2020-11, Mayor Bowlin signed an Authorization allowing a “Temporary Waiver of Special Event Permit Guidelines for Eating and Drinking Establishments in Wildwood”. This will allow Wildwood restaurants, pubs and coffee shops to expand outdoor seating and hold special events, and provides necessary guidelines and procedures for doing such. Parkside Grille has already applied to extend its permit through December 31,2020, along with Wildwood Pub & Grill being approved to install a temporary outdoor tent over its expanded outdoor seating area for the upcoming Winter Season. +++ The City’s Economic Development Committee is launching a new Veterans Programming initiative to support the City’s veterans, promote the general welfare of this community, and provide resources and direct outreach to those residents and businesses who are veterans of the United States military service. This initiative includes featuring Wildwood businesses that are veteran-owned or employ veterans, encouraging the development of new veteran benefits or programs at our local businesses, and creating a new veteran resource portal on the City’s website.+++ Vail Resorts announced its Winter Operating Plan for the 2020/21 Season, including required physical distancing/face coverings, a new reservation system, and estimated opening dates for each of its 34 properties, including Hidden Valley Ski Resort in Wildwood. Hidden Valley Ski is currently slated to open for its Winter Ski Season on December 19, 2020. +++ Letty Lou’s Café & Diner (17209 New College Avenue, at Wildwood Square) re-opened for business this past Tuesday, October 20, 2020, just over one (1) year after the devastating fire at this location in October 2019. Please stop by to congratulate their team on their continued investment in our community. +++ Given the impact of COVID-19 on the small business community, the City will be rolling out a new Small Business Spotlight Video Series on the City’s social media channels. All Wildwood businesses have been invited to participate, and ten (10) businesses have already begun work to provide videos.
+++ There is a new owner of the retail/office building at 16917 Manchester Road, most recently tenanted by Wildwood Health & Wellness. The new owner intends to open a new retail operation at this location in the future.
+++ Wildwood Pub & Grill, 17253 New College Avenue, at Wildwood Square, launched its new Winter Wonderland outdoor dining area under a new structured tent on October 15, 2020, to remain in place until at least December 31, 2020. This new outdoor tent allows this Wildwood business to preserve its new expanded outdoor seating area during the colder months.
+++ St. Louis Community College at Wildwood hosted a ribbon cutting for their new Registered Nursing Program on Friday, October 16, 2020. Governor Mike Parson, Chancellor Jeff Pittman, Mayor Jim Bowlin, and several City Council Members attended this ceremony. Become A Junior TrailblazerThe Junior Trailblazer Program is for kids ages 5 to 13 and is intended to have them, and the rest of their families, healthy and fit by exploring the many miles of trails in Wildwood. Participants will work at their own pace to complete a Junior Trailblazer booklet, which has varying activities depending upon the child's age. Children completing the program will receive a Junior Trailblazer prize pack, and be recognized on the City's website and at a City Council meeting.

Tuesday’s Class: Senior Chair Yoga (Restore Practice)
Using a chair or a completely supported posture, this practice will target mobility and flexibility of both the body and the mind. With a strong focus on the breath and gentle movement, this practice will explore qualities of a restorative (restful) practice, a yin (longer-holding) practice, and yoga Nidra (guided meditation).
Friday’s Class: Senior Slow Flow Yoga
A meditative flow based on a steady, rhythmic breath, and traditional yoga postures. The flow will incorporate mindful, smooth transitions and holds designed to open the body and the mind. This practice will build strength, balance, flexibility, mobility, and confidence and is ideal for practitioners that are comfortable standing.

MANAGING OUR STREET TREE ASSETS
IN THE CITY OF WILDWOODHave you noticed lately an unhealthy or dead street tree* in your neighborhood? The City has created a simple form for you to use to report unhealthy and dead street trees,* whenever you spot one: https://www.cityofwildwood.com/…/Dead-Trees-or-Limbs-Down-56. You can also report a tree by calling City Hall, at 636-458-0440.
This form will come in handy (unfortunately) because the City is now experiencing the predicted and widespread impacts of the invasive Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) on Ash Trees in Wildwood. The EAB is an invasive beetle that targets Ash Trees and destroys their vascular system, leading to their eventual deaths. The City has identified around 900 Ash Street Trees* that will eventually be killed by this pervasive pest. These Ash Street Trees are located in neighborhoods all around Wildwood, so we'll need your help reporting them, when they become unhealthy or dead.

Rural Internet Access Committee (RIAC)
Interviews of Potential Providers Concluded on 9-25-2020The City's Rural Internet Access Committee (RIAC) and consultant working with it on this effort, CTC Technology and Energy, are concluding its interview process with the last of the planned interviews this coming week. In the interim, the City has prepared a list of providers that currently offer some level of service within the rural areas of the City. These providers include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Bays ET – Wireless service (original)
2. Bays ET – Piggybacking on AT&T system of improvements, but only data
3. Bays ET – Fiber-to-the-Home (only to certain areas)
4. Wisper Internet – Wireless service (original)
5. AT&T Wireless – Mobile communication provider
6. Verizon – Mobile communication provider
7. T-Mobile/Sprint – Mobile communication provider 8. Other Mobile Providers – Boost, Cricket, Metro, Mint, and others. 9. Satellite – Different providers
10. Spectrum (Charter Communications)
11. Wildwood Workspaces - a co-working environment, with great internet, which is located in the Wildwood Town Center (16759 Main Street)
12. Rockwood School District (the district is providing hot spots to its students)

<<< Stormwater Runoff and Erosion Issues >>>At the task force's last meeting on September 29, 2020, the members made progress on several fronts and will be moving forward creating a Stormwater Master Plan for all of Wildwood. Additionally, the grouping of volunteers were revised and now three (3) subcommittees exist to focus on the core goals of the Task Force, which are identifying critical locations for repair/restoration, developing of the aforementioned plan, providing public education, and developing funding mechanisms. The Task Force is committed to creating a workable approach to solving erosion issues in the City's nine (9) total watersheds. For the latest information on upcoming meetings of the task force, please check the City's on-line calendar for cancellations and scheduling news. |

SINGLE-STREAM RECYCLINGSince August 2019, Waste Connections has been the hauler for all residential properties in the City of Wildwood, which also has included the return of single-stream recycling. Single-stream recycling allows residents to place all recyclable materials in a single container for curbside pickup by the hauler. Waste Connection accepts glass, as part of the new recycling stream, so it can be placed in the toters for pickup. Any questions on recycling can be addressed by visiting the Waste Connections website, which can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.wasteconnections.com.
The City of Wildwood and Waste Connections have also retained two (2) of the locations that were made available as additional options for the drop-off of extra fiber materials and glass:> Anniversary Park - 16511 Clayton Road (63011)

Available at City Hall - Main Street Level - Lobby AreaBring your expired/unused prescription medications to City Hall during normal business hours (Monday through Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and deposit them in the take-back box. There is no need for any assistance from the police. This easy and safe approach keeps old or unused medications from the environment and out of the hands of children. |

Eyeglasses and Hearing Aids - Drop-Off Box @ City HallThe Wildwood Area Lions Club has a drop-off box at Wildwood City Hall (16860 Main Street, 63040) for used eyeglasses and hearing aids that are provided to others that cannot access them for a number of reasons. Don't throw them away - please donate - and help others in need!
The Wildwood Area Lions Club was chartered by Lions International and is a non-profit organization by the State of Missouri, circa June 2009. Lions Clubs support the Wildwood Area by providing assistance through actions and monetary funding. Lions International has 1.35 million members in 205 countries and regions worldwide. The international foundation has awarded more than $700 million for humanitarian service projects worldwide and provides disaster relief, youth programs, and help to combat disabilities, where needed. |

American Flag DisposalThe City of Wildwood accepts retired American flags for dignified disposal. Please bring worn flags to City Hall, 16860 Main Street, and leave them with the receptionist. All flags collected will be relinquished to the Boy Scouts of America for proper disposal. US Flags should never be placed in the trash. |
