New Year's Day Observance - January 1, 2021
- City Hall Schedule -Please note that municipal offices will be closed beginning at 12:00 p.m. (Noon), on Thursday, December 31, 2020 through Friday, January 1, 2021, to celebrate the New Year's Day Holiday. Offices will reopen on Monday, January 4, 2021, at 8:00 a.m. The Wildwood Precinct #6 of the St. Louis County Police Department will be staffed throughout the holiday weekend (24/7). Additionally, there will be a change in residential trash/recycling services over the holiday period. This change includes the following delayed pickup: Friday pickup (January 1, 2021) will be on Saturday (January 2, 2021). Here's to a Happy, Prosperous, and Safe New Year!

Filing OPENED on Tuesday, December 15, 2020
The City Clerk shall receive all candidates, during regular office hours, in the order in which they pass through the front door of City Hall (Main Street Entry), until filing closes.
Filing CLOSES on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 5:00 p.m.
No candidate's name shall be printed on any official ballot unless the candidate has filed a written Declaration of Candidacy and paid a ten dollar ($10.00) filing fee to the City Clerk or his/her designee. Payment of the filing fee may be by cash or check made payable to: the City of Wildwood, Missouri.
Do you want to be a City Council Member in the City of Wildwood (2-Year Term)? You must meet the following Qualifications for a Council Member:
* A registered voter; and
* A resident of the Ward for one (1) year prior to election and during the term of office.
Nominating Petitions:
Candidates for Council Member must submit completed Nominating Petitions on forms provided by the City Clerk. Nominating Petitions for Council Member candidates shall be signed by not less than twenty-five (25) registered voters who are residents of the ward in which the candidate is nominated. Completed Nominating Petitions must be submitted at the time of filing of a Declaration of Candidacy.
Petition signatures shall be valid only if obtained not earlier than forty-five (45) days prior to the first day of filing. Therefore, Any Signatures Obtained Prior to Saturday, October 31, 2020, Are Invalid. No person shall be allowed to be nominated for more than one (1) office at a time.

25th Anniversary of the City of Wildwood - 1995 to 2020 On September 1, 2020, the City of Wildwood turned 25 years old. It was not the year we all expected, but, through the pandemic and the flexibility of all of us, the City was still able to acknowledge it and have some fun with different events and opportunities. << COVID-19 Operational Procedures and Information >>
New Indoor Dining Protocols - Effective January 4, 2021Indoor dining returns to St. Louis County restaurants on Monday, along with new protocols aimed at mitigating risks. The Department of Public Health, working with an informal group of restaurant owners, has instituted the following protocols, which take effect Monday, January 4, 2021: Occupancy at restaurants will be limited to 25% of their fire code capacity or the total number of diners sitting at tables spaced at six feet apart, whichever is lower. This includes banquet facilities, also limited in their occupancy to 25% or 50 people max. The new mask protocols will be in place to protect restaurant workers better. Restaurants and bars will be required to close by 10 p.m. Some bars will need to install physical barriers such as plastic dividers or plexi-glass. Restaurants and bars will record the names and contact information for patrons to assist with contact tracing and case investigation if that proves necessary.

It’s important to note that these policy changes are due to the number of cases going in the right direction and everyone needs to understand that indoor dining — even with these protocols — continues to pose substantial risks to both patrons and employees.

MASKS AND THEIR ROLE IN BEATING BACK COVID-19Masks are recommended as a simple barrier to help prevent respiratory droplets from traveling into the air and onto other people, when the person wearing the mask coughs, sneezes, talks, or raises their voice. This barrier created by a mask is called source control. This recommendation is based on what the medical community knows about the role respiratory droplets play in the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19, paired with emerging evidence from clinical and laboratory studies that shows masks reduce the spray of droplets, when worn over the nose and mouth. COVID-19 spreads mainly among people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet), so the use of masks is particularly important in settings, where people are close to each other, or where social distancing is difficult to maintain.- CDC recommends that people wear masks in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
- Masks may help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others.
- Masks are most likely to reduce the spread of COVID-19, when they are widely used by people in public settings.
- Masks should NOT be worn by children under the age of 2 or anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.

Closures of Streets, as of December 31, 2020All Streets in the Glencoe Area (around Glencoe City Park and Al Foster Memorial Trailhead and Trail) remain posted "No Parking." This restriction includes Washington Avenue, Grand Avenue, and 3rd Street.
Status of Park Facilities, as of December 31, 2020 All City playground areas (Community Park, Anniversary Park, Glencoe City Park, Old Pond School Park, and, now, Green Pines Park) remain open at this time. Please follow the rules posted at each of these playgrounds, so we all can have fun and see friends again, but stay safe and healthy. It is important to state that, unless exempted from such, all persons at any of the City's playground facilities wear a mask. Non-compliance creates higher than acceptable risks and could lead to the playgrounds being closed again (please see below for more information). |

Pavilion Rentals Now Being Accepted on a Limited Basis
Anniversary, Community, and Old Pond School ParksThe Anniversary Park's Pavilion, Community Park's Large Pavillion, Old Pond School Park's Pavilion, and the pavilions on the north end of Community Park, are all now open. The Community Park's largest pavilion on the south end of the park reopened on July 6, 2020. Portable restrooms and wash stations are provided at all of these locations.
Please adhere to the following guidelines when using the pavilion:
- Social distancing is required by maintaining at least six (6) feet between yourself and other non-household members. If you notice this rule is not being followed, please call the St. Louis County Police – Wildwood Precinct - 636-458-9194.
- Avoid gathering with people you do not live with.
- Do not enter the facility if you are ill.
- Wearing face coverings is required, as of Friday, July 3, 2020.
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow.
- Washing hands or using hand sanitizer before entering the pavilion and after leaving is encouraged.
Please note: If you notice that other facility users exhibit symptoms of COVID-19, or you believe you have been exposed, please go home immediately and call the St. Louis County Public Health COVID-19 Hotline, at 314-615-2660, or contact your physician. The size of gatherings in association with these facilities is limited to no more than ten (10) individuals for smaller venues, as well as the larger shelter in Community Park, under the revised public health orders that have been issued by St. Louis County. RALLY FOR RETAIL IN WILDWOODIn partnership with its local businesses, the City has launched a “Rally for Retail” Campaign to help support Wildwood retailers during the current environment.
Pure By Jen, a local Wildwood boutique, recommended this new effort in order to encourage community members to virtually “shop” at their favorite local brick-and-mortar stores by purchasing GIFT CARDS. Purchasing these online gift cards now will help to keep as many Wildwood retailers as possible in business, so that they can reopen their doors, when this crisis passes.

With a strong focus on the breath and gentle movement, this practice will explore qualities of a restorative (restful) practice, a yin (longer-holding) practice, and yoga Nidra (guided meditation).
Friday’s Class: Senior Slow Flow Yoga
A meditative flow based on a steady, rhythmic breath, and traditional yoga postures. The flow will incorporate mindful, smooth transitions and holds designed to open the body and the mind. This practice will build strength, balance, flexibility, mobility, and confidence and is ideal for practitioners that are comfortable standing.

Winter Parking and Driving Tips from the City of Wildwood
|

How to Keep Your Driveway Entrance
From Filling with SnowThroughout the winter months, State, County, and City snowplow crews will be out clearing the highways, roads, and streets during and after each snowfall. Homeowners and other property owners will be clearing their driveways at the same time.
Many times, while this is going on, a snowplow truck will go by and fill in the end of a freshly cleared private driveway with snow from the roadway. This is not intentional, and there is a way this wintertime inconvenience can be minimized.
The diagram below shows how you can clear snow around the end or your driveway, providing a certain way to reduce the possibility that you will have to do very much re-clearing after a snow plow truck goes by on the road next to your driveway.
The idea is to place as much snow as possible when clearing your driveway, in the direction of travel downstream on your side of the roadway. Next is to clear an area upstream from your driveway opening to form a "pocket" for the snow from the roadway to go into instead of at the end of your driveway.
The result is more of the snow accumulation from clearing the roadway will go into this open pocket area and less will wind up at the end of your driveway.
A note of caution is in order: Please be extremely careful when working next to the roadway — especially when snowplowing operations are in progress.

Please Do Not Leave Valuables Visible in Your VehiclesPlace any valuables you may have in the trunk of your car or in back of a SUV, so they are not easy to see or access. Always lock your car, and with daylight ending earlier, park in lighted areas, whenever possible. These cautions are good to use anywhere, including many of the parks and trailheads located within the City of Wildwood. Be safe, and enjoy the outdoors this Fall. |

Rural Internet Access Committee (RIAC)The City's Rural Internet Access Committee (RIAC) and consultant working with it on this effort, CTC Technology and Energy, concluded its interview process with the last of the planned interviews. In the interim, the City has prepared a list of providers that currently offer some level of service within the rural areas of the City. These providers include, but are not limited to, the following:

Christmas Tree PickupWaste Connections will begin the pick-up of discarded Christmas Trees, as of December 28, 2020, and will continue through January 29, 2021. This service is free of charge, but pick-up will need to be scheduled by contacting Waste Connections at (636) 321-2100. The pick-up will occur on yard waste days, which are the same as your regularly scheduled recycling day. Please contact Waste Connections a few days ahead of your request for pick-up. Download the Waste Connections App to access the most accurate and up-to-date information about waste services in the City of Wildwood. This app helps to understand service delays due to weather conditions on the roads and streets throughout the City. You can also setup notifications for reminders to place your receptacles out at the curb as well.

SINGLE-STREAM RECYCLINGSince August 2019, Waste Connections has been the hauler for all residential properties in the City of Wildwood, which also has included the return of single-stream recycling. Single-stream recycling allows residents to place all recyclable materials in a single container for curbside pickup by the hauler. Waste Connection accepts glass, as part of the new recycling stream, so it can be placed in the toters for pickup. Any questions on recycling can be addressed by visiting the Waste Connections website, which can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.wasteconnections.com.
The City of Wildwood and Waste Connections are also providing a location were additional options for the drop-off of extra fiber materials and glass can be accommodated. Available at City Hall - Main Street Level - Lobby AreaBring your expired/unused prescription medications to City Hall during normal business hours (Monday through Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and deposit them in the take-back box. There is no need for any assistance from the police. This easy and safe approach keeps old or unused medications from the environment and out of the hands of children. |

Eyeglasses and Hearing Aids - Drop-Off Box @ City HallThe Wildwood Area Lions Club has a drop-off box at Wildwood City Hall (16860 Main Street, 63040) for used eyeglasses and hearing aids that are provided to others that cannot access them for a number of reasons. Don't throw them away - please donate - and help others in need!
The Wildwood Area Lions Club was chartered by Lions International and is a non-profit organization by the State of Missouri, circa June 2009. Lions Clubs support the Wildwood Area by providing assistance through actions and monetary funding. Lions International has 1.35 million members in 205 countries and regions worldwide. The international foundation has awarded more than $700 million for humanitarian service projects worldwide and provides disaster relief, youth programs, and help to combat disabilities, where needed. |

American Flag DisposalThe City of Wildwood accepts retired American flags for dignified disposal. Please bring worn flags to City Hall, 16860 Main Street, and leave them with the receptionist. All flags collected will be relinquished to the Boy Scouts of America for proper disposal. US Flags should never be placed in the trash. |
