Deer Management - Resident Inquiry Form

  1. Deer Management Program Overview

In June, the City Council gave approval to initial efforts to reduce the population of white-tailed deer in the City of Wildwood. The City is working with a non-profit organization, White Buffalo, Inc., to cull up to 300 deer this winter, as authorized by the Missouri Department of Conservation.

This would be the first year of a multiyear effort planned to reduce the deer population density from 73 deer per square mile to a preferred density of 40 deer per square mile within the City of Wildwood. The deer culling effort for this winter is planned for the area of highest deer population density, based on the 2020 deer population counts completed by the Wildwood Police Precinct.

This area is generally bounded by Route 100 on the south, Route 109 and Shepard Road on the West/North, and Strecker/Valley Road on the North to the City limit on the East/South.

Kindly be advised that White Buffalo shall refrain from conducting any operations on private property unless explicit written approval from the property owner has been obtained. Should you prefer that White Buffalo not operate on your property, no action is required on your part.

Should you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to submit this form or reach out directly to the Department of Public Works.
